My favorite body exfoliant is a mixture of sesame oil and baking soda lightly rubbed over the skin and rinsed with warm water. Whats yours?

Re: Favorite body exfoliant
Sat, March 29, 2008 - 8:47 AMi'm thinking its now the one you just posted!!
thats sounds like a nice soft and easy exfoliant, which, espcially since i only have a small stand up shower at the moment would be a lot easier than a full on body scrub. thanks!

Re: Favorite body exfoliant
Sun, March 30, 2008 - 2:28 PMMine is soaped up skin followed by demerara sugar...it turns into a brown creamy liquid when it melts and actually isn't very sticky when mixed in and rinsed off with the soap. :) I use it on my legs -

Re: Favorite body exfoliant
Wed, April 2, 2008 - 8:58 AMI tried baking soda, but it wasn't scrubby enough. Cornmeal or sugar is what I like. Mixed with a little honey. Now, though, I generally dry brush, before I shower. -

Re: Favorite body exfoliant
Tue, April 15, 2008 - 4:47 AMi heard somewhere that coffee is good for toning those wobbly areas, ie butt (i think its meant to be good fr cellulite) so i make up a body scrub for my lower half, arms and stomach out of ground coffee, oats, honey, whole milk or cream and a bit of fine salt and sugar...works like a dream ( : -

After. Be careful, you can get caffeine into your system via the skin. I got way too much when I tried it and my heart nearly climbed its way out of my chest.
However, this doesn't seem to happen to everyone and many people really like it. You can also use coffee grounds to darken your hair.
DO a search on this tribe, there are some old threads on coffee grounds hereabouts.

Re: Favorite body exfoliant
Thu, April 17, 2008 - 8:52 AMI made a really good facial scrub - 1/2 caster sugar, 1/2 ground up oats and then mix honey in your hand with it when you need it - left my skin really soft! I thought caster wouldn't be scrubby enough, but it was more towards the scale of too harsh than not harsh enough! Argh "baby's bum" skin softness!

Re: Favorite body exfoliant
Wed, April 23, 2008 - 9:48 PMroughly:
-1/4 Cup Aspirin (salisylic acid)
-1/2 Cup raw sugar
ground together in a Magic Bullet (electric coffee grinder would do much the same), then mixed into a loose paste with about 1/4 Cup of honey and a tablespoon of natural body wash (I use a Jason wash with Kelp, liquid Castile soap would also work nicely). I don't often mix in oil as I hate having to scrub it out of my shower afterwards, but if I do I will usually use grapeseed oil.
Never tried coffee, but I imagine it'd be quite the hassle to clean up!

Thu, April 24, 2008 - 12:04 PMSea salt and sugar 1/2/ and 1/2 with a few drops of lemon and rosemary oil. Rinse with water and apple cider vinegar wash. Then a nice cold shower to close the pores, before salthering on coconut oil. I heat it in a double boiler pan, pour it into a jar and add a bit of geranium, laveneder ES, with a drop or two of basil. Om shanti

Tue, May 13, 2008 - 6:28 AMI made an awesome one with tumeric... yes it does colour your skin a bit but it washes off quite easily. It has a very gentle healing energy... I mixed it with almond oil and lavender.... then followed it up with a gel wash using tee tree and aloe for a more deep pore cleanse.

Re: Favorite body exfoliant
Tue, May 13, 2008 - 11:55 AMOne of my favorite ways to exfoliate (not of natural origin) are my scrubbly gloves I get at the dollar store. They are a good mess-free way to get baby smooth. My natural way to get smooth is about a 1/4 cup of olive oil mixed in with enough sea salt to make a slushy type mixture and scrubing the crap outta my body in the bath. Oooooooh. -

Re: Favorite body exfoliant
Tue, May 13, 2008 - 7:29 PMI like scrubby sponges, it almost doesn't matter what soap i use. Ladies, I wonder, with some of the things you're using, oil, coffee grounds, oatmeal, aren't your drains getting clogged??? -

Re: Favorite body exfoliant
Wed, May 14, 2008 - 9:25 AMAh, the drains :-) This isn't about skin exfoliation so much as it is about when I use henna for my hair! I end up filling one of those giant stainless steel pots with warm water (you can also use a large bucket or even a trash can - make sure your head fits) and rinse most of it into the pot - I swish it around for awhile and really get the roots and everything. Then, I pull my head out, squeezing water out gently, and either dump the water outside, or flush it down the toilet. I also use a drain protector in the tub too! -

Re: Favorite body exfoliant
Wed, May 14, 2008 - 2:45 PMI switched from powder to liquid henna for this reason. Thankfully, Colora makes both organic. And it's that time of the roots. . .
