I've used a face moisturizer recipe for years (Annie Berthold-Bond's recipe: 4 parts aloe vera gel to 1 part vegetable glycerin), but really hate that it melts on my finger as soon as I squeeze some out. I've wasted so much of this down the sink, because of that. Is there anything I can add to help it keep its gel consistency a bit longer?
Thanks!
Thanks!

Re: Simple facial moisturizer question
Sun, April 13, 2008 - 2:43 AMSounds like you need a type of thickener, so maybe if you add some cold water to cornflour, mix, then heat up a little on the stove. Take a little sample from your mixture (in case it goes wrong, I've never tried doing this before with aloe) and mix in the cornflour/water.
You could also try flax seeds, but that might affect the effect it has on your skin :|

Mon, April 21, 2008 - 5:18 PMI don't know why the recipe was for both. I'm guessing the glycerin is an aid to thicken it, as well. But, if you use too much, it gets too sticky.
