I've run out and bought nearly everything you people have discussed for skincare, I have a shelf full of things I've read about in hmbr ( neem oil, emu oil, rosehip oil, grapeseed oil, tea tree shampoo, cleanser etc...)
I bought a bottle of plain white aspirin awhile ago to use for a peel but thought I needed a mortar and pestle to crush it up. Well tonight I just added some hot water and to my surprise, it dissolved instantly!
I have it on my face right now and will report back on results, although I've don't several tca peels and have put so many products on my skin that's it's sort of desensitized.

Re: aspirin facials
Wed, February 15, 2006 - 7:31 PMCareful not to let it flake INTO your nose! You will sneeze insanely!! I add my aspirin to a tiny bit if a mud mask (i use queen helene mint julep cause its cheap) and mix it really well, it seems to work well and keeps the dried aspirin from getting where I don't want it! Like... in my nose.

Wed, February 15, 2006 - 9:43 PMi missed this thread, anyone wanna link me to it?
aspirin eh? sounds interesting. i wonder if you could use a milder natural form of white willow extract with similar results? like to know which skin type it's best suited for first though...
i have heard of using prep h for wrinkles round the eye, haven't tried it myself yet though, don't need that much help there yet... should be gentle, i mean, it's meant for the most delicate of areas after all, ha ha. -

aspirin has salycilic acid which is an ingredient used in acne medication and mild peels. -
-
Re: aspirin facials
Mon, February 27, 2006 - 2:06 PMSalycilic acid is also an ingredient in lotions following waxing. It helps to prevent ingrown hairs. It is also used in scalp therapy formulas, probably to prevent flaky scalp. -

Wed, February 15, 2006 - 11:25 PMPrep h is used to fight puffiness under the eyes. Results may vary.
i am having a heke of a time trying to find uncoated aspirin around here. -
-
Re: aspirin facials
Thu, February 16, 2006 - 12:29 AMI found only light coated aspirin. It worked fine but was a little hard to wash off because I added a capsule of vit. E to it. The results---- definitely cleaned and shrunk my enlarged pores.
I think I will try it once a week... -

Re: aspirin facials
Thu, February 16, 2006 - 7:37 AMaren't the generic aspirins uncoated?

Re: aspirin facials
Thu, February 16, 2006 - 8:30 AMtry discount stores, like the dollar store or some generic brands. Thats the only way I have found it uncoated. -

Re: aspirin facials
Thu, February 16, 2006 - 11:59 PMthe lightly coated ones will dissolve really easily. That's all I could find too. :)

Re: aspirin facials
Fri, February 17, 2006 - 3:34 AMPrep H really does help with puffy eyes (it's a model trick for photo shoots), but be forewarned--don't use it regularly! Only do it when you *really* need to look especially good, or your eyes are tremedously puffy from too little sleep for whatever reason (hence it being a model trick).

Re: aspirin facials
Mon, February 27, 2006 - 2:02 PMI believe meadowsweet has even more salycilic acid than white willow. I wonder if either would be good on their own as a facial?

Re: aspirin facials
Sat, October 14, 2006 - 9:28 AMPrep H formula in the USA now doesnt have the ingrediant that takes away under eye puffiness. The only place you can get the real stuff is, well, outside the us! My aunt lives in Canada and she can still get it. but then, she can get codiene too...yikes!

Fri, February 17, 2006 - 6:48 PMok, i tried it and i saw immediate results but, as with almost everything that i've used for my enlarged pores, the results weren't lasting. wish i could find something that "changes" my skin, sigh. big pores are a drag. -

Re: aspirin facials
Fri, February 17, 2006 - 7:12 PMI just squeeze my pores out..what i do is look in the mirror, and lift the bottom of my outter nostril up and all that nasty white crap just ozzes out, than i get a q-tip and swipe it off & dry it out with a little bit of witchhazel & get a icecube to get red of the redness..i do this with both sides of my nostrils..it may sound painful but im used to it now & it will save you alot of money instead of going to a beauty parlor to have them remove it basically the same way, or with some sort of utencil...ive been doing this for 4yrs now and i cant see my pores on my nose anymore..btw i do this like every 3-4 weks. -

Re: aspirin facials
Wed, February 22, 2006 - 9:55 PMwell when pores accumulate dirt they tend to get bigger..i used to have big pores before i started sqeezing the stuff out..and YES they are are barely visible because i squeeze out that gook..in my personal opinon you can use creams to shrink them, but that white gook will always remain and still be somewhat visible like those little dark spots that are inside the pores, but when u sqeeze it out that white gook comes out. that gook is accumulated from dust in the air and tap water...i always keep a bottle of artesian, or any purified or distlled water in my restroom to use on my face everytime i wash my face...i have a water filter in my kitchen so sometimes i wash in my kitchen sink to..hehe -

Re: aspirin facials
Thu, February 23, 2006 - 11:40 AMIt is much easier to squeez the gunk out right after a hot shower, the sauna, or a steam bath applied especially to your face. :-)

Re: aspirin facials
Fri, February 24, 2006 - 4:36 AMI do understand the why, what I don't get is how exactly you do what your explaining (lifting up the nostrils?)?

Re: aspirin facials
Fri, February 24, 2006 - 7:52 PMi squeeze them out of my nose, not pick at them..picking at your skin will leave scars, but sqeezing them out is different you are applying pressure.. -
-
Unsu...
Re: aspirin facials
Fri, February 24, 2006 - 8:04 PMto sqeeze them out u just hold the bottom of one side of your nostril, while holding it in its place you lift it up, this will cause a little pressure to force those little buggers out. also while holding the bottom of my nostril with my thumb and index figure I use my other hand (index finger and thumb) to hold the center of my nose down.. reapeat the same thing on the other side..wipe off with a q-tip and put some witchhazel on a cotton ball or something that will take off the oil from your nose, because after squeezing out my nose it gets greasy from sqeezing out all that white crap that ozzes out..
Note: if you have long nails becareful not to dig your nails into your skin..apply the pressure from the tips of your fingers NOT the nails. -
-
Re: aspirin facials
Fri, May 4, 2007 - 1:52 PMThis does work well, but I now have scars on my face from doing this, not so much on my nose, but on my chin and cheeks from pushing the white crap out of my pores. So be careful, like she said do not use your fingernails ever! Fingertips are okay but if you have to press too hard to get the stuff out then this may not work for you. Just be careful.

Re: aspirin facials / Reply from Karen
Sun, May 6, 2007 - 3:54 PMWith large Pores, you need a Toner, after cleaning your Skin.
A great, inexpensive Toner is Witch Hazel. Apply it to skin that
has been cleaned and can also apply it as a Skin Freshner,
before applying moisturizer and Make up. Put it onto a Cotton Ball
and gently go over Face and Neck. If you will use this at least
twice a day. You will have small pores.
Take a Before and After Shot.......to see for yourself. -

Re: aspirin facials / Reply from Karen
Mon, May 7, 2007 - 10:28 AMCheck the thread about cystic acne, some really good wholesome general ideas there! (even if some of them are my own:)
beyond any masks, how you wash your face daily makes all the difference with large clogged pores. The oil, cleanser, hot water & lemon juice method is a fantastic prevention of any skin congestion and clears skin up quickly and without squeezing, if it is congested.
Witchhazel toner is a very good astringent, but only if it does not contain alcohol. However, i find lemon juice has a wider range of good benefits (fights free radicals, normalizes sebum production (the "gunk"), helps with collagen production, antibacterial, quickly heals blemishes, ph balancing, the list goes on), so i stick with that.
Namaste to All! -

Lemon juice full strength? Or do you dilute it? ANd where is the information on the oil cleansing method? I am having a horrible time finding it. But then i am a bit spacey today also. -

Re: aspirin facials
Sun, June 15, 2008 - 8:37 PMAspirin Facials work like RIGHT NOW. They are awesome. My skin was flaky and my pores were clogged. I put the ground up aspirin into a face wash and washed my face, leaving the mix on for about 3 minutes. Smooth, open pores and my blemishes began to shrink. I'm hooked! Awesomely good, awesomely cheap trick.
