I was wondering if anyone could help me source base products such as cream / moisturiser base, shampoo / conditioner, etc. I have recently arrived in San Francisco from Australia and am finding it really difficult to get base products.
I ordered products from New Directions and they came from Canada and the shipping cost $90, I couldn't believe it. Then when I tried making products with the base creams I discovered I had wasted my time and money as the cream was so thick and oily it was useless.
If anyone out there can recommend a good supplier I would really appreciate it.

There is also a GREAT herb store in the Mission in San Francisco called Scarlet Sage. I don't know if they have bulk amounts of oils and such, but they would certainly be able to help you out with sourcing. www.scarletsageherb.com -

And if you are up in the North Bay, there's a great shop called Rosemary's Garden in Sebastopol. They do have a pretty good selection of bulk oils, beeswax, cocoa butter, etc. www.rosemarysgarden.com It's a great store to get sucked into, I always stop in there when I'm in Sebastopol. :)
